The wild horse desert composite squadron at Mcallen Miller International Airport is nothing but a joke, the Colonel, Carlos Rocha lies to cadets and promises them rides in a Cessna 172 that is based in another airport in Harlingen which is a good 30 min drive, he promised he would try to bring the aircraft back. One occasion he needed someone to fly, so he kept rushing me to finish up on my private licence, I was unabe to due to the circumstances of the time, so I had brought a colleague of mine who had just gotten his commercial and instructor ratings, when i presented him to the Colonel, my friend told me he kept on avoiding the subject about flying and kept on changing the conversation when it was going towards the airplane. Also, the colonel lies to cadets he recruits, and tells them they will fly, but instead refuses to fly and just has everyone march while he just sits on his butt in his office "working". I have attempted to educate the students on aerospace, yet every time i start to lecture, he always interrupts me and has the cadets march outside, or he refuses to give me the title he promised me when i signed up as an education officer. Also, Col. Carlos Rocha has tried on numerous occasions to freeload form our local FBO for free flight lessons and services, and he refuses to pay a 3 thousand dollar bill he has outstanding for hangar space and services for the supposed aircraft that was there at the beginning before the squadron lost it due to it not being used for missions. He claims that the FBO should "forget" the bill, yet he still shows up there trying to get a free ATP rating ground school. Also, Colonel Rocha does not try to raise funds for the unit, he rejects all fund raising ideas from anyone that is not his wife. EVERY PILOT HERE AT THIS AIRPORT THINKS THAT CIVIL AIR PATROL IS A JOKE HERE AT MCALLEN In my opinion the 70 dollar membership fee was the worse money i have spent. FOR THOSE OF YOU CONSIDERING THE CIVIL AIR PATROL, DON'T IT IS JUST A JOKE AND A LIE
